The item being modelled by the very lovely Matt Lowe, curator at the Cambridge Zoology Museum, once belonged to an animal. No, it's not a fossilized belt from a mid-sized theropod. So what is it? Anyone care to take a guess?
Hi, I'm Mo, I'm 27 and am currently in-between studies, hoping to start a Ph.D. in palaeontology or comparative anatomy in the next couple of years. I'm working on an etymological dictionary of scientific names of the tetrapods, and I can often be seen at the great Natural History Museum, London or the London Wetland Centre.

Part of the horn (section through the covering) from one of those crazy bovines up on the wall, perhaps?
What Trish said... I'm guessing it's from an Ankole bull.
